The death of Robert Bruce Scott husband of Helen (McCombs) Scott of Newcastle, NB occurred suddenly on Friday September 23rd, 2022, at the age of 68. Born in Newcastle, NB, he was the son of the late Walter and Rita (Boudreau) Scott. Bruce was a dedicated railroad employee working for CN-Rail and NBEC-Rail where he was a conductor and locomotive engineer working alongside 2 of his sons, retiring after 45 1/2 years. He was a member of St. Samuel’s Roman Catholic Church where he was a very faithful volunteer in all aspects of the church, notably 59 years of altar serving. While his sons were making their way through minor baseball you could always count on Bruce being there to coach. After retirement he devoted his time to his beloved grandchildren and could often be found at the camp that he enjoyed so much on North Renous Lake.
Besides his wife: Helen, Bruce is survived by sons: John Thomas Scott of Newcastle, NB; David William Scott (Shawna) of Saint John, NB; James Robert Scott (Melissa) of Oak Point, NB; sister: Shirley Forget of Nanaimo, BC; brothers: Tom of Loggieville, NB; Albert (Nancy) of Beresford, NB; sister-in-law: Dianne Scott of Chatham, NB; brother-in-law: Melvin Ripley of Douglastown, NB; grandchildren: Grace, Alanna, Walter and Charlie as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Bruce is predeceased by sisters: Mary Ripley and Joan (Archie) McCarthy; brother: Eddie; sister-in-law: Judy Scott; brother-in-law: Bert Forget; in-laws: William and Helena McCombs.
The family will receive visitors at Bell’s Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 28, 2022, from 7-9 PM and Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Samuel’s Roman Catholic Church on Friday, September 30, 2022, at 4 PM with Father Godwin Kalu and Father Peter Aloo officiating. Burial will take place in the church cemetery later.
