Michael Louis Waye

1952 – 2022

Michael Louis Waye of Miramichi, husband of Brenda (Bell) Waye, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on September 20, 2022 at the age of 70. Born in Chatham, NB, he was the son of the late Alphonse and Louise (Matchett) Waye.

Michael was a retired school teacher, with the majority of his career spent at Blackville School. After retirement, Michael continued with his passion by teaching Construction Safety. Michael was selfless, volunteered with various organizations, coached teams, and always helped those in need. “Michael Miles” also loved to spend time at his family camp, travelled the back country roads, and was always up for a visit with friends. He loved catching up on old times and telling stories.

Michael is survived by his wife Brenda; son: Judson (Megan Gallagher); granddaughter Gracie, and step-grandson Logan; sisters: Helena Waye (Bill Riley) and Jennifer Sullivan (George); brothers: Melvin, Wendell (Sandra) and Larry; mother-in-law: Jeannie Bell; many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Besides his parents, Michael is predeceased by sister: Cathy (Kerry Parks); brother: Frank; sister-in-law: Peggy; father-in-law: Sterling Bell.

Visitation will be held at Bell’s Funeral Home on Saturday from 7:00 – 9:00 PM and on Sunday from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Monday, September 26th, 2022 at 11:00 AM. Interment to follow in the parish cemetery.

Retired teachers are asked to gather at 10:30 to form an honor guard.

Following the burial a celebration of Michael’s life will take place at the Kin Centre. As expressions of sympathy, in Michael’s memory, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, or a charity of one’s choice.
