J.E. Keith Russell
1936 – 2022
Keith Russell, husband of Margaret (Forsythe) Russell of Strathadam, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family, September 19, 2022, at the age of 86.
Keith’s first priority was his family, he loved them all dearly. To get a smile on his face, all it took was seeing a family member or friend walk in the door. He would often be seen wearing his trucker’s hat with feather sticking off to the side. He was born in Newcastle on January 8, 1936 to loving parents Pearl (Carter) and Osburne Russell. Keith started working with his father Ossie at the Esso Gas Bar. At 21 he started working for Imperial Oil and worked for them until early retirement after which he started Russell’s Septic Tank Cleaning, which he worked for a number of years until he turned the business over to his son Chris. Anyone travelling Cottage Lane will miss Keith’s wave, as he never missed a vehicle.
Keith was a member of St. Philip’s Church and the Northumberland Lodge 17.
Keith is survived by his wife of 64 years, Margaret (Forsythe) Russell; Daughter: Toby Manuel (David Flett); Sons: Chris Russell (Cynthia), John Russell, Brian Russell (Jennifer); 7 Grandchildren: Hillary Manuel (Jocelyn Johnson), Ryan Manuel (Laura Keating), Dustin Stewart, Carley Smith (Mike), Jocelyn Russell, Alecia Trevors, Avery Russell; 3 Great Grandchildren: Khali Rae, Logan, and Claire; Brother: Edison Russell (Rita); Sisters: Cynthia Russell (Debb Hebb), Kathy Sheasgreen (Mike), Audrey Russell; Sister-In-Law Pauline Russell, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his Parents, sons Andrew and Grant, brother Allan Russell and son-in-law Moe Manuel.
A visitation will be on Thursday, September 22nd from 11AM – 1 PM at Bell’s Funeral Home with the funeral following at 2:00 PM from the Sterling Bell Memorial Chapel with Rev. Geza Szemok officiating. Burial to follow in St. Philip’s United Cemetery, Whitney.
