Robert Douglas Hutchison December 20,1950

It is with heavy hearts, the family of Robert (Bob) Douglas Hutchison announces his passing on Monday, November 22, 2021 at home with his loving family by his side. To Bob, the most important and cherished things in his life was time spent with his family.

Bob was born in Douglastown, NB, the son of the late Alexander “Sandy” Hutchison and Marion “Molly” (Wood) Hutchison. After Bob graduated from Harkins Academy in 1969, he went to work at Heath Steele Mines, and then moved on to work at UMP-Kymmene Miramichi Inc. where he became a Second Class Stationary Engineer and remained there for over 33 years until it closure in 2007. Moving on to a new adventure he went to work in McKenzie Pulp Mill in McKenzie, BC and then onto working at Kearl Lake, AB for Kearl Initial Development Plant and then onto the Kearl Expansion Project Plant in his later years. In his early years Bob was the past president of Miramichi Bay du Vin Liberal Association. He loved to discuss the local news and politics at the daily 6am Tim Hortons crew meeting. Bob was always busy tinkering with his equipment and the guy anyone could call. He would always drop what he was doing to give a helping hand or come with one of his tractors to make sure the job got done.

He is survived by his wife Fearn of fifty years, his three daughters Alexis Hutchison Tripp (Bruce), Sara Trevors (Wade), and Jody Hutchison (Jacob Martin); six grandchildren Matthew(Olivia) and Nicholas Surette, and Tanner Tripp; Brydie and Lilly Trevors; and Mia Hutchison-Levy. Several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins, and many cherished friends. In addition, he leaves behind three special childhood cousins, Jon Hutchison-Thompson, Fredericton NB, Mary Jean Hutchison-Ross, Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, and Ann Hutchison Shaffer, Moncton, NB

Bob was predeceased by his parents, his three brothers John, Harry, and Charlie and two sisters in law Gennie and Leah Hutchison.

The family will receive visitors at Bell’s Funeral Home on Thursday, November 25, 2021 from 6-9 PM. The funeral service will be held from the Sterling Bell Memorial Chapel on Friday at 11 AM with Rev. Charlene Maguire MacKnight officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mark’s United Cemetery.
