Obituaries

The death of Mary Nancy Somerville, of Esgenoôpetitj, NB, occurred on Monday, November 22, 2021 at the Miramichi Regional Hospital at the age of 72. Born in Esgenoôpetitj, NB, she was the daughter of the late Norman and Bertha (Metallic) Joe. Nancy worked as an Education Councillor at Harkins and Tabusintac Schools. She enjoyed knitting, gardening, was an avid reader, MTI elder and always had a special interest in education and politics.
Nancy is survived by: daughter: Marsha (Stanley); son: Wesley; sisters: Diana Ward, Doreen Joe, Corena Joe, Annabella Dedam (Sonny), Margaret Dedam (Simon), Muriel Dedam (John); brothers: Allister Joe (Nicole) and Arnold Joe (Margaret) all of Esgenoôpetitj, NB; grandchildren: Hannah, Jade, Gavin, Bethany and Benjamin Somerville; great grandchildren: Timothy, Trace and Elizabeth as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Nancy is predeceased by: son: Mason D. Somerville; father of her children: Joseph Dalton Somerville; sister: Mathilda Francis; brother: Perley Joe.
Visitation will be held from Bell's Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 1 with family visitation from 2-4 PM and public visitation from 4-6 PM. The funeral service will be held from the Sterling Bell Memorial Chapel on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at 1 PM with Father Godwin Kalu officiating.
Please note: Face Masks and Proof of Double Vaccination will be required for visitation and funeral service. Seating for the Funeral service will be limited.
