The death of Elwin Frank Matchett, husband of Cathy (MacKay) Matchett of Sunny Corner, NB, occurred at his residence on Monday, October 18, 2021 at the age of 72. Born in Chatham, NB, he was the son of the late Harold and Helen (MacDonald) Matchett. Elwin was a retired Welder who worked at many places over the years including: Heath Steel Mines and Sunny Corner Enterprises. He was a very proud member of Local #325 Pipe Trades.
Besides his wife Cathy, Elwin is survived by: daughter: Tracy Matchett (Daniel Comfort) of Douglastown, NB; son: Toby Matchett (Cara Hovey) of Newcastle, NB; sisters: Sharon Hamilton (Doug) of Fredericton, NB; Karen Bjurstrom of Sunny Corner, NB; brother: Blake Matchett (Linda) of Fredericton, NB; grandchildren: Samantha, Bethany and Isabella Matchett, Darien Porter and Joey Williams; great grandchildren: Bentley, Canaan and Ivalee Arbeau, Regan and Christin Williams and Baby Fletcher and Baby Williams both due in 2022; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Elwin is predeceased by: brother-in-law: Ronnie Bjustrom.
The family will receive visitors at Meadows Funeral Home on Thursday, October 21, 2021 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. A private funeral service will be held from Meadows Funeral Home Chapel on Friday with Pastor Tom Ettinger officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Stephen’s Presbyterian Cemetery, Boom Road, NB.
Please note: All attendees must provide proof of vaccination upon arrival at the funeral home for both visitation and funeral service, as well as mandatory mask and physical distancing in all indoor spaces.
