Llewellyn W. Smith
1941 – 2020

Llewellyn W. Smith of Nelson Miramichi, NB, husband of the late Sylvia (Trevors) Smith, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at the age of 78. Born in Chatham, NB, he was the son of the late Charles and Mona (Johnston) Smith.

Llewellyn was an insurance broker for many years, as well as a former supervisor Boise Cascade. He was the former mayor and deputy mayor of Nelson Miramichi. He was past master of Northumberland Lodge #17 F. & A.M. Llewellyn was past potentate of Shriners NB. He was past president of Highland Society and NB Scottish Association and was a past member of the Miramichi Senior Citizens Home for over 25 years. Llewellyn was known for his big smile and hearty laugh. He left a lasting impression with all that met him.

Llewellyn is survived by daughter: Kathy Hill (Eric) and son: Jerry Smith (Louise) all of South Nelson, NB; sisters: Jessie McLean (Loran) of Quispamsis, NB, Gale McLeod (Chuck) of Brighton, ON, Sandra Wells (Walter) of Sussex, NB, two grandchildren: Erica and Jonathan Hill, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents: Charles and Mona and his wife: Sylvia, Llewellyn is predeceased by sister: Gilda and brother: Aden

A public visitation will take place at Bell’s Funeral Home, 651 King George Highway on Saturday, December 19 from 3:00 – 7:00 PM. A private funeral service will be held at St. Andrew’s United Church, Miramichi with Reverend Charlene Maguire-MacKnight officiating. Interment will be in St. James United Church Cemetery later in the spring.

Due to COVID-19, mask and physical distancing are mandatory at the visitation and funeral.

Please note: Northumberland Lodge #17 F. & A.M. are asked to meet at the funeral home at 2:15 PM for a Masonic service at 2:30 PM
