Edith Frances (Davies) Swain
Edith Frances (Davies) Swain, of Losier Hall, formerly of Nelson-Miramichi, wife of the late Bernard Swain, passed away at her residence on Sunday, November 15th, 2020 at the age of 98. Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, Edith is the daughter of the late David and Mary (Nickelson) Davies.
Edith was a homemaker and worked at Saint Michael’s convent for almost 50 years. Edith was also a member of the Pioneer Seniors’ Club, loved bowling, bingo, knitting and puzzles. She bowled into her 80s and played bingo into her 90s.
Edith is survived by five daughters: Ellen May Trevors (Frank) of Oak Point, NB, Janice Hay (Richard) of Moncton, NB, Beverly O’Hara of Ottawa, ON, Heather Davenport of Miramichi, NB and Mary Elizabeth Swain of Fredericton, NB; four sisters: Winnifred, Ina, Elizabeth and Olive; nine grandchildren: Edward, Tabatha, Troy, Derek, Jodie, Kin, Hong, Mei Ling and Raven; seventeen great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
Edith is predeceased by her husband: Bernard Swain; four sisters: Frances, May, Rena and Louise; two sons: Derek and Owen as well as two grandsons: Matthew and Ian.
There will be no visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Saint Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, Nelson-Miramichi, NB on Thursday, November 19th at 11 AM with Father Anthony Dass Papu officiating. Burial will take place at Saint Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church cemetery.
Social distancing as well as the use of masks are mandatory at the funeral service.
As expressions of sympathy, in Edith’s memory, donations may be made to a memorial of one’s choice.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the former staff of Mount Saint Joseph and the staff of Losier Hall. A special thanks to Cathy and staff of O’Reilly Court.
