It is with sadness that the family of Dorothy Bessie McLean, of the William Residence for the past year and formerly of Chatham Head, announce her passing peacefully on Saturday, August 3rd at the Miramichi Regional Hospital with her family by her side.
Born September 15th, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Bert and Bessie (Hill) Kenny. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Over the years she bowled with the seniors every week , went on bus trips with them that she really enjoyed . She spent many hours knitting special teddy bears and mitts for the children. She also made finger puppets for the children at the IWK Hospital Halifax and also for Miramichi Regional Hospital. She loved playing cards and was ready for a game any time.
She is survived by two daughters: Dorothy Mullin (Late Gary Mullin) and Pearl Doak (Lance Tomlyn); one son: Ernie McLean (Ferne); grandchildren: Dwain, David, Brenda and Debbie; great grandchildren: Misha, Rebecca, Veronica, Bradley, Matthew and Jessica; great great grandchild: Ben and sister in law: Rema Kenny.
Besides her parents, Dorothy was predeceased by her husband: Perley McLean; son in law: Gary Mullin; granddaughter: Audra Mullin Bourque; brothers: James, Jack, Bernard, Bill, Bert and Leonard; sisters: Lillian, Gwen, Beatrice , Katherine and Betty.
Visitation will be held at Bell’s Funeral Home, 651 King George Highway, Miramichi on Wednesday, August 7th from 6-9 PM. At Dorothy’s request, there will be no funeral service. Burial will take place in the Miramichi Cemetery at a later date.
As expressions of sympathy, in Dorothy’s memory, donations may be made to the IWK Hospital or a memorial of the donor’s choice.
