James Louis O’Shea husband of Frances (Baisley) O’Shea of Sunny Corner, NB passed away peacefully at the Miramichi Seniors Citizens Home on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at the age of 90.

Born in Sunny Corner, NB Louis was the son of the late Thomas and Lil O’Shea.

Louis grew up on his father’s farm in Sunny Corner and learned at an early age how to work with his hands.

He worked teams of horses, mended fences, milked cows and eventually became a milk man.

Later he got a job at Heath Steele Mines and while raising his family and running the farm he studied night school to become a heavy equipment mechanic.

After 33 years he had worked his way up to shop foreman and retired from the mine.

Louis was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend to the many lives he touched in his lifetime.

He was the local mechanic, farmer, carpenter, and general jack of all trades never refusing to lend a hand.

He loved dancing and playing cards all his life with his house overflowing many days and nights with love and laughter of family and friends.

He was a lifetime member of The Sunny Corner Lions Club, and a member of The Island View Seniors Club, and Saint Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank, NB, and will be missed by all.

Besides his wife, Louis is survived by six daughters: Marie Pennock, and Nancy O’Shea (John) both of Fredericton, NB, Jane Sweezey (Garth), Clare Hawkes (Joe), Ruth Harris (Peter), and Connie Doak (Hedley) all of Miramichi. Two sons: Bernard O’Shea (Bridget), and Thomas O’Shea both of Sunny Corner, NB. 18 grandchildren Lane Pennock, Jared Sweezey, Michael Sweezey, Ellen Sweezey, Brian Hawkes, Patrick Hawkes, Jillian Hawkes, Jadon Harris, Luke Harris, Shea Harris, Brendon O’Shea, Emily Murphy, Pamela O’Shea, Mitchell O’Shea, Corey Doak, Nolan Doak, Haley Doak, Benson Doak. 9 Great grandchildren James Pennock, Yafreisi Garcia, Starlyn Garcia, Jackson Sweezey, Isaac Sweezey, Skylar Harris, Riley Harris, Tristan Kenny, Fiona Doak.

Louis is predeceased by three sisters : Marie O’Shea, Mona Sevigny, and Stella Piaz and one brother Mark.

Visitation will be held at Meadows Funeral Home, 150 Northwest Road, Sunny Corner, NB, on Sunday May 5th, 2019, from 7-9 PM and again on Monday, May 6th, 2019, from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank, NB, on Tuesday, May 7th, 2019, at 11 AM with Father Dan Melanson officiating.

As expressions of sympathy, in Louis’ memory, donations may be made to Saint Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church Cemetery Fund or the Sunny Corner Fire Department.
